Fieldwork in unconventional places

Welcome to the very first Anthrobreakfast this spring semester!

We will kick off the first Anthrobreakfast with guest lecturer Hege Høyer Leivestad.

Hege is an associate professor at the Department of Social Anthropology, and her research deals with mobility, materiality and the global circulation of commodities.

In this Anthrobreakfast, Hege Høyer Leivestad will take us to the mini-gardens of British caravan dwellers, and to the docks of a Spanish containerport. Reflecting on her fieldwork in Europe’s peripheries, Hege invites us to a conversation on what it means to do anthropology on unconventional topics.

For more on Hege and her research, visit her academic staff page.

The first lecture will be held January 30th 2023 in Georg Sverdrups Hus, store møterom (2nd floor behind the cafeteria) at early in the morning 09:15 to 11:00 am.

Anthrobreakfast: full schedule for spring 2023

Anthrobreakfast is an event run by SAPU where a member of the Department of Social Anthropology (or other affiliate departments) presents their current research interests and an overarching discussion on modern anthropology. It is a casual event where students can hear a short 30-45 minute presentation, discuss, and socialize with each other as well as the speaker. It’s a great opportunity to get to know your fellow students and professors.
